How old do I have to be to get my license?

The state requires that all applicants be at least 18 years of age.

Can I apply for a salesperson license and a brokers license at the same time?

Absolutely. However, applications to the Department of Real Estate must be made separately and application fees are not transferable or refundable.

How many questions are on the exam?

The real estsalesperson exam has 150 multiple choice questions and you have 3 hours and 15 minutes to finish. A score of at least 70% is needed to pass the salesperson exam. The broker exam has 200 multiple choice questions and you must finish in 5 hours. A score 75% or better is needed to pass the broker exam.

Can I Keep taking the exam if I fail?

Yes.  There is no limit to the number of times you can take the exam.  However, you will need to pay the appropriate fee when you reschedule your exam ($60 for salesperson exams, $95 for brokers exams).

How quickly are my test results ready?

Test results are usually available on-line or over the phone within 3-5 business days of your exam date.

What are the requirements for getting my license?

Does everybody take the same exam?

No.  The state has many versions of the exam and some versions are harder than others.  If you do not pass the exam, reapply immediately because the next exam may be easier.

If I've had legal problems, can I still obtain real estate license?

Yes, but it depends on the type of problems you've had.  The state may give you a limited license that allows you to sell real estate with some restrictions.
